Roof Replacement
Central Florida is a wonderful place to live. Our weather however can be extreme. The key to protecting your home is to have your roof built to withstand severe wind, heavy rains, hail, and searing heat. The integrity of your roof can become compromised as it ages or as a result of our severe weather patterns. When inspecting roofs, there are several factors taken into consideration when determining whether a roof needs to be replaced or repaired.
Since 1990 Oviedo Roofing has been dedicated to exceeding your expectations of quality and service. Our knowledgeable staff will present you with all of the information required to choose the best option for your needs and budget. You can have peace of mind knowing that your roof is covered by a Written Workmanship Warranty, which is completely transferable to a new owner in the event that you sell your home.

Shingle Over / Layering
-
In some cases, homeowners will opt for what is known as a “recover” – which is essentially layering new roofing materials over the old roof. While this is a less costly alternative, it is not advisable because it is a temporary solution that adds weight to the frame of the structure. There is also a danger of the old roof curling up under the newer layer, which causes serious problems. If the existing roof has been recovered in the past, and there is already more than one layer, we recommend starting from scratch with a new roof. Oviedo Roofing does not do any Shingle Over since roof deck cannot be re-nailed to meet Florida Code. Oviedo Roofing recommends that you never do this.

Decking
-
This is the underlying foundation that the roof is built on. No amount of repairs made to the upper layers of roof are going to help if the decking starts to rot. If there are spongy areas on the roof or sagging between the rafters or trusses, these are indications of deeper roof damage, and that the roof will most likely need to be torn off and replaced. The Florida climate is especially conducive to dry rot, as the high temperatures and humidity encourage the growth of the fungi that causes it.

Incompatible Shingles
-
Due to advancements in material fabrication, development of new products by roofing supply manufacturers, and weathering it can be challenging to get the correct size and color of new tiles or shingles to perfectly match an existing roof. Any repairs made to a roof over the years may result in an unsightly patchwork look. Therefore, it is recommended that property owners invest in a complete roof replacement that will add to both the appearance and value of their home or business.
